Webex Video Call Translator

Webex supports real-time translated closed captions for eligible Meetings and Webinars. Cisco documents 16 spoken languages and 120+ caption languages with its paid translation entitlement. For a separate video call translator with two-way translated voice, AI Call lets you share a Call Link in Webex chat so the other person can join an independent translated browser call.

AI Call is independent from Cisco and Webex. It does not add translation inside a Webex meeting; it provides a separate Call Link conversation.

How to translate a Webex video call

Three steps. The other person needs no app.

1

Set the two languages in AI Call

Choose your language and the other participant’s language, then create a voice or video Call Link.

2

Send the link through Webex

Share the Call Link in a Webex message or meeting chat and tell the participant it opens a separate translated conversation.

3

Talk with voice and subtitles

The participant opens the link in a browser. AI Call translates both sides and displays bilingual subtitles during the call.

Prefer to dial a regular phone number instead? Use the phone call translator — only you need AI Call, the other side answers a normal call.

Can Webex translate video calls?

Yes, Webex can translate meeting speech into closed captions. Cisco says the expanded real-time translation feature is a paid add-on, must be enabled for the host, and supports 16 spoken languages translated into 120+ caption languages. Some meeting modes and web experiences have limitations.

AI Call is not a replacement for Webex administration or webinar captions. It is an alternative workflow when two people need translated voice as well as subtitles and can move into a separate link-based conversation.

Live Webex video call translation

Webex has a strong native option for enterprises that need translated captions inside managed meetings and webinars. AI Call is aimed at a smaller, independent conversation where translated voice, a quick browser join, and no Webex translation entitlement are more important.

  • Two-way translated voice in an independent AI Call conversation
  • Bilingual subtitles throughout the live call
  • Call Links shared through Webex chat or messages
  • No AI Call installation required for the guest
  • 100+ languages on iPhone and Android

For translated text inside AI Call, both people install the app and use its in-app chat translator. A Call Link is a separate option for a translated voice or video conversation.
