Do both people need to install AI Call for voice and video calls?
Yes. Voice and video calls run between two AI Call users over data, so both of you need the app. For calls to any regular phone number, see the Phone Translator — only you need the app in that mode.
How is this different from the phone call translator?
The phone call translator lets you dial any phone number anywhere in the world — only you need AI Call, the other side just picks up normally. Voice & Video Call is between two AI Call users and adds HD video and live two-way subtitles on both screens.
Can we see subtitles during the call?
Yes. Both sides see a live subtitle bar on their screen — your own words and the other person's words, translated in real time. At the end of the call you also get a full bilingual transcript you can review or clear.
Which languages does voice & video translation support?
The same 100+ languages as the phone translator, including English, Chinese (Mandarin), Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Arabic, Hindi, and Russian. You and your friend can each be in a different language.
Does it use phone minutes or international dialing?
No. AI Call voice and video calls go over Wi-Fi or mobile data — no phone minutes, no international dialing fees. Great for calling friends and family abroad.
Are my calls private?
Call audio and video are processed in real time and not stored on our servers after the call ends. You can save a text transcript on your device if you choose, and delete it whenever you want.
